New site!
This image shows the completed rear area, fully prepared and ready for use. As evident from the photo, the space quickly became valuable as additional parking, greatly relieving congestion when parking around the factory was limited.
This image captures the development of the rear area at our factory, preparing for future expansion. It highlights the transformation of a grassy field into a functional space suitable for articulated lorries and forklift operations. For a period, we placed storage containers here to manage incoming materials more efficiently. At the time, we regularly received around 15 boxes of material awaiting reprocessing, and indoor storage capacity was limited. This additional space proved invaluable, also providing essential overflow storage for finished goods when our secondary site reached its full capacity.
A side-view of our newly constructed access road. At this point in time, we didn't have sufficient electrical capacity to power our newly installed extrusion lines. As a temporary solution, we invested in a generator, enabling us to achieve the necessary power headroom to keep our operations running smoothly during this expansion phase.
The Silver Line setup, captured here in all its intriguing glory. This extruder represented a learning curve for our team, as it featured a slightly different variant of the familiar Leistritz die-face cutting mechanism. Despite initial challenges, our skilled engineering team swiftly addressed these minor issues, getting the machine up and running efficiently. In its early days, the Silver Line quickly became our powerhouse for compounding black polymer materials.
A close-up view of the Purple Line during its initial setup phase. As you can see from this image, the machinery was not quite ready for production. However, thanks to our highly skilled engineering team, it wasn't long before the line was fully operational. We chose strand extrusion technology for the Purple Line—moving away from the previously used underwater die-face cutting system—because we found this tried-and-tested method to be more efficient overall, significantly reducing material loss during production.
Machines arriving—by 2015, Polymer Compounders Limited was experiencing significant growth and increased demand. To meet this challenge, we invested in two new extruders, manufactured by Useon Systems. Affectionately named the Purple Line and Silver Line, these machines complemented our existing Blue, Red, and Green Lines. This photo captures the exciting moment they arrived at our facility, ready to be offloaded and installed.
A fresh new look for our factory—featuring crisp, modern white fascia boards replacing the older, discoloured ones, perfectly reflecting our updated brand identity.
Our refreshed company logo—moving away from our original design, which took inspiration from a well-known automotive brand, towards a sleek, modern 3D style. This new look is inspired by the globe, symbolising our growth and commitment to doing business globally.
A close-up of the iconic 'Blue Line' in all its glory. This was the very first extrusion machine we purchased, expertly manufactured by Leistritz in Germany. Throughout the early 1990s, the Blue Line handled the majority of our production workload, earning its reputation as the dependable 'workhorse' of Polymer Compounders Limited, until the arrival of the Red Line shortly afterward.
This close-up shows a die face mid-production, highlighting the water-cooling pipes and the separation between the die face and the cutting blades. Typically, during production, the die face would be precisely tightened against the blades to ensure clean cutting of the polymer and eliminate any pellet loss.
This is a close-up view of the die-face cutting system used on Polymer Compounders Limited's original extrusion line in 1993, affectionately known as the 'Blue Line.' This cutting system utilised two or four precision blades to neatly slice the polymer into the familiar pellet form we produce today.
Dual bagging units from our early days, using manual weighing systems. Today, our downstream processes have advanced significantly, equipped with state-of-the-art digital scales, meticulously calibrated to ensure perfect deliveries every time.
Outside Polymer Compounders Limited in 1993. This image captures the humble beginnings of our journey. If you look closely, you'll spot a vintage car, likely from the 1980s, adding a nostalgic charm to this glimpse into our early days.
