ABSCOM® is our registered trade name for ABS polymer products, compounds of Acrylonitrile, Butadiene and Styrene. ABS resins are opaque, glossy, rigid with good low temperature properties and dimensional stability. By playing on the proportion of the main components and by adding additives such as flame retardant, heat, and UV stabilisers and various pigments we are able to deliver a range of products to suit your needs.
Our ABS compound grades (ABSCOM®) are used in many industries such as the automotive, leisure, safety and hygiene sectors.
Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS plastic) is a common thermoplastic polymer closely related to Acrylonitrile Styrene Acrylate (ASA plastic). ABS is synthesized by polymerizing styrene and acrylonitrile in the presence of polybutadiene. The butadiene component in its composition provides increased toughness and impact resistance.
Good impact resistance, even at low temperatures.
High toughness and rigidity.
Easy to machine and finish, with excellent dimensional stability.
Relatively lower resistance to UV and weathering compared to ASA.
Prone to yellowing over time when exposed to sunlight.
ABS materials comprise a continuous phase of styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer, in which polybutadiene rubber is dispersed in small amounts.
The primary distinction between ASA and ABS plastics lies in their resistance to environmental factors. ABS plastic is less suited for outdoor applications because it is susceptible to degradation when exposed to ultraviolet (UV) light. This UV exposure gradually breaks down the butadiene part, leading to a loss of integrity and brittleness in the ABS material.
Here are our main grades. Clicking on a specific grade name will give you access to a summary of the datasheet. If you require a full datasheet, with more test results and details on the processing recommendations, please go here. If the datasheets for the polymer compounds you’re looking for are not on there, please contact us directly at Polymer Compounders and one of the team will be more than happy to assist you.
Each datasheet has been composed by a company working to an ISO9001:2015 standard and should not be taken to be approved or sanctioned by the auditor to this standard.
We have a great team that provides excellent customer service including hardworking production operators who work day and night to create materials according to your specifications.
